Voor wie is de Yamaha A-S2200? Nou, voor wie niet? We kunnen maar één doelgroep verzinnen die wellicht beter een andere keuze kan maken: mensen die écht alleen maar naar house luisteren. Voor wie ook gewoon naar andere muziek luistert, zal héél hard moeten zoeken naar een betere versterker. Wij schatten in dat de A-S2200 met twee vingers in de neus meekomt tot 4000 euro. En wellicht 4500 euro. Het is gewoon een topding. Alpha Approved.
Hihi,blijf de herkenbaar voor Yamaha retro vormgeving op zich prachtig vinden want voor mij nostalgisch.in mijn jonge jaren,35 jaar geleden pak hem beet,viel ik op metertjes en veel knoppen.inmiddels valt mijn set op door minimalisme.is natuurlijk aan de ene kant smaakkwestie,aan de andere kant betaal ik niet voor dingen die er qua sound niet toe doen of die ik niet gebruik.voor de rest mooie site ,Alpha audio,ik kijk altijd naar jullie reviews en heb er mijn voordeel mee kunnen doen.

sorry for the early criticism on low level listening of the amp without asking you first.I wanted the edit some parts of my first message but sadly there was no way doing it.Should have been asked earlier and here it is.
Did you notice any difference on frequency spectrum (aurally) with different listening levels? Specially on low levels.Like some of the tonal areas loosing their impact and presence.

Not really, but of course it depends also on the loudspeaker. A bass reflex model does suffer from this anyway, as it has less impact on low volumes. But that’s not so much the amplifier, but more the speaker.

Were the B&W easy to drive by the S2200 being only 90W and the speakers 88db ?
I have been contemplating to these models S2200 & S3200 for my PMC Twenty5 26 (86db)

Thanks for the review Jaap.
Few years ago i purchased yamaha a-s2100.Soundwise it was very good with mids and highs,very detailed and clean.First problem was, as you mentioned lack of punchy bass somehow hollow bass.Bass guitar was there but kick from the drum set and similar instruments was very weak.
Second and bigger problem was when i lower the volume, bass and lower mids region was dissapearing much more then mids and highs thus making it completely unpleasant to listen at low levels.No energy at all.I couldnt live with it and i sold the amp regretfully.
For those of you thinking maybe there was speaker amp mismatch,that time i had other amps available with me.Marantz pm14 mk2,Pioneer a-70 and a-70 da,30 years old Marantz pm-80 and recently Marantz pm-8006.Some of these amps still with me.No such experiences with all these amps that i mentioned.
After reading your review that i understand this problem somehow still exist.Which is shame,because this is such a beautifull amp inside and out.Who ever is/was making final tunings to these nice amps probably doing wrong job.
My main speaker is focal aria 948 and secondary Dali ikon mk2.
